BAMBOO FACTS

BAMBOO

  • needs neither insecticides nor fertiliser which runoff, polluting waterways.
  • can prevent erosion, and desertification.
  • can be processed into premium grade pulp for paper production.
  • grows faster and removes more atmospheric CO2 than tress
  • can supplant the harvest of ancient forests.
  • Bamboo plantations will provide longterm employment and rebuild local economic and community infrastructure with schools and medical facilities for an enhanced quality of life. Survival into old age will no longer depend on the over production of children to support the last generation.  Bamboo is a viable alternative to wood pulp.
  • can be grown to maturity in 2 years on low grade land and then
  • can be repeatedly cropped(on a short cycle) for up to 60 years before it needs re-planting.
